Some of the best resources relating to copywriting, business & entrepreneurship, Madrid & Spain and living the dream! 🙂

Entrepreneurship, writing & lifestyle

AshMFPThe Middle Finger Project – Ash Ambirge
Master copywriter and cool chick, worth following if you’re interested in fun and personality driven copy. Has recently rebranded a bit for the ladies but still something for us all!

LYLLive Your Legend
Chelsea Dinsmore & team
Unfortunately, the founder Scott Dinsmore is no longer with us but his legend lives on. Change the world by doing work you love… ok!

4HWWTimFour Hour Work Week – Tim Ferriss
A legend in the ‘lifestyle design’ community and writer of the (in)famous 4HWW, which is where a lot of us started.

L180Location 180 / Location Rebel
Sean Ogle
Sean’s site, L180 and paid community/training centre, LR – both based around online business.

AONCThe Art Of Non-Conformity
Chris Guillebeau
The title speaks for itself. A lot of content on travel and treading an ‘alternative’ path. Also puts on a huge event each year in Portland called The World Domination Summit (WDS)! Sure, we’ll give it a go…

FRHFree Range Humans – Marianne Cantwell
Great blog and newsletter (she also has a book) on essentially being a ‘free range human’, or in our language, ‘Fortress Free’.

SuitcaseThe Suitcase Entrepreneur – Natalie Sisson
Another travel, online business type of gal. Has a podcast and all sorts worth checking out.

Se Habla EspañolRoxServ
Ran by a couple of cool cats, Roxi and Servando. They have events, conversation classes and activities based around learning and improving Spanish in a fun and natural way. There are other intercambios (language exchanges), events companies etc but none other that focus exclusively on Spanish, which is handy here 😉

NakedMadridNaked Madrid
Useful website in English for various events and happenings around the city. Not much in the way of long articles but direct and to the point factual info.

Ran by local girl about town, Cj. Events and info for ‘guiris’ (and españoles!). The site and blog are in English and the events are generally bilingual.

General information site. They also do a free monthly magazine which you can view online or pick up a hard copy at any tourist information centre.

CityLifeCitylife Madrid
Probably the biggest events company in Madrid for foreign students, expats and tourists, catered mainly to the student crowd. They take trips all over the place and bar crawls galore!

A language and cultural exchange group that has been going for many years and good for all ages.

BabelMadrid Babel
2 intercambios a week plus monthly events. They have also been going for a while and have quite a big following.

Another (fairly new) events and travel company that I haven’t used myself but worth knowing about.

Bar crawls, exchanges, hiking trips and more. Good for Au Pairs, teachers and anyone wanting a big night out in the centre.

Language conversation classes. Initially English, but now also Spanish and more! They take place in cool bars around town and worth looking in to if you are studying a language or if you would like to run sessions as a teacher. Gabriel, the co-founder is a great guy and this company and method have huge potential.

DiverboDiverbo/Pueblo Inglés
Language school, offering formal classes, Masters and language immersion programs in Spain and Germany. As a Spaniard, you (or your company) can pay for a week away in a village where you speak only English. If you’re an English speaker, you can participate as an ‘Anglo’ volunteer and stay, eat, drink for free whilst chatting away. See more here.

VaughanVaughan Systems
Essentially the same offerings as Diverbo above, in fact, they were the same company once upon a time. A language school with all the classroom and in-company stuff along with the immersion programs which, as they might say in SE Asia, are same same, but different.
